A little help getting started

Make yourself at home.

One installer adds TaskDeck and its companion to your Mac. It also upgrades an existing installation without replacing your tasks or settings.

Install TaskDeck

1. Use a Mac running macOS 14 or later. Both Apple silicon and Intel are supported. Install Codex or ChatGPT with plugin support before continuing.
2. Quit TaskDeck if it is open. Download version 0.5.1 (17), then open the package.
3. Follow macOS Installer and approve the administrator prompt on your Mac. TaskDeck installs in the main Applications folder.
4. Open TaskDeck from Applications. Start a new conversation in Codex or ChatGPT to load the companion.

You do not need Xcode, Node.js, or a source checkout. This package is for Mac, not iPhone or iPad.

Connect the companion

The companion works inside your AI host. Use it to review your deck or ask it to find possible tasks in sources you have connected and authorized. Review the candidates before adding them.

Installing TaskDeck does not connect Slack or grant access to any other service. Integrations depend on your host, account, and workspace permissions. A missing connection can make a scan incomplete; an incomplete scan is not evidence that there are no tasks.

Updating an existing installation

Quit TaskDeck and run the new installer. Your task document, settings, and sync state stay outside the app bundle. The installer saves the old app and companion for recovery.

Open the new app from the main Applications folder. If you previously kept TaskDeck in your personal Applications folder, the installer moves that older copy to a recovery folder after installation succeeds.

Check the download

The app and installer are Developer ID signed. Apple has accepted the installer for notarization, and its notarization ticket is attached. If macOS reports a damaged or unverified download, download it again from this site. Do not turn off Gatekeeper.

The expected checksum is in SHA256SUMS. Advanced users can compare it with the output of:

shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/TaskDeck-0.5.1-17.pkg

Email inbox@nandran.com with your macOS version, TaskDeck version, and what happened. If possible, include steps to reproduce the issue.

Do not send passwords, access tokens, or your full task file. If you attach a screenshot or diagnostic report, check it for private information first.

About this release

Version 0.5.1 (17), released September 6, 2026, includes the Mac app and companion plugin. Signing and notarization are verified. Installation checks cover the installer helpers; a complete end-to-end upgrade and live cross-device iCloud and Slack checks remain part of release testing.
